The Vale da Mata has four hectares of vineyards and its totality is constituted of red grapes, with a strong predominance of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and also a small area of Syrah.
Inserted in the northern zone of the winegrowing region of Lisbon, the smooth hills and clay-limestone soils allow the ideal water regime for the development of the vine. The markedly Mediterranean climate has strong Atlantic influence, with cool nights and moderate temperatures to promote the long and correct maturation of the grape.
As in its sister project, at the Herdade do Rocim, the Vale da Mata project respects the expression of its terroir from the very start.
All the viticulture operations at Vale da Mata are carried out manually, always respecting the terroir and sustainability principles, from the winter pruning through interventions in green until the harvest, where the human hand plays a key role.
