Rocim is the owner of Herdade do Rocim and Vale da Mata.
Rocim is a project iniciated by Movicortes, S.A, located in Leiria. Movicortes is the holding of the following companies:
– Moviter (infrastructure, environmental and agricultural equipment)
– Rocim (winemaking and enotourism)
– Vimoter / Porsche Centre Leiria (automobiles)
– Jorlis (social communications)
– Leiria weekly newspaper, editions and events)
– Arquivo (bookshop and cultural assets)
– Movicortes Angola
– Movicortes Mozambique
With its start in the field of mechanised agriculture in the Seventies, the investment in diversified and complementary sectors is a benchmark in the history of Movicortes. In addition to its business in the equipment sector (public works, agriculture and automobiles), it operates in the areas of social communications, books and winemaking, with Rocim.
The investment in winemaking began in 2000 with the Herdade do Rocim. The estate with approximately 120 hectares, of which 70 hectares are vineyards, is situated between Vidigueira and Cuba in the Baixo Alentejo. A new adventure and a dream would follow.
The first years were dedicated to the restructuring and qualification of the estate, with the planting of new vines and the introduction of new wine grape varieties, in a project that mixed new and old knowledge, with reason and emotion, supported by the love of father and daughter. Then, the cellar was built and the production of wine with own brands started.
Also in Cortes (Leiria), the hometown of José Ribeiro Vieira, founder of the company, Rocim started the grapevine planting in 2003, aiming to recover the brand image of this parish and the family tradition in the winemaking sector, with the launch of Vale da Mata.
Today, Rocim is renowned for the quality of its wine and cellar and speaking of its history is speaking of a dream and therefore its speaking of the present and the future. Because dreams are endless.
“Speaking of the future is not easy as we cannot guess what the future holds. Anyway, we believe that the foundations and structures capable of fostering our growth have been launched.” José Ribeiro Vieira.
